Lindsey Meehleis

Lindsey and DylynLindsey has had a passion for babies and birth from early on. In her native Colorado, she grew up as a "natural" with babies, making her the most sought after babysitter in her neighborhood. Some of her neighbors, after hours of having their own baby cry, would just give up and knock on her door. Within a few minutes, their babies would stop crying and be sleeping in Lindsey’s arms.

After moving to California when she was 11, she knew she wanted to go to Nursing School to become a Labor and Delivery nurse. To support herself through college, Lindsey followed her healing spirit and became a Emergency Medical Technician working for an ambulance service and on the emergency room staff at South Coast Hospital in Laguna Beach. Her family and the Hospital staff encouraged her to continue on with her education in support of the family unit as a whole.

Lindsey in Costa RicaShe continued on with her studies, however the month she was accepted into Nursing school she received the wonderful news that she herself was having a baby. This was somewhat of a surprise, as she wasn't planning to have a baby for a few more years. She was torn between the practical world of going through Nursing school or indulging herself in the beauty of being pregnant and having the responsibilities a newborn and family bring. Lindsey followed her inner wisdom and made a commitment to her own true self and her unborn daughter.

Because of her inexperience in birthing, she gave way to modern medical birth, and after 18 hours of induced labor she gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Dylyn Rose, via Cesarean. Months following her birth experience she knew she had missed the true beauty of natural childbirth and embarked on a holistic path to help others give birth naturally.

She sought out childbirth educators and discovered she too wanted to help educate moms to have a different experience than she while giving birth. Lindsey began her studies in Childbirth Education and became a certified Birth Doula. She furthered her studies in Lactation Education and became Internationally Board Certified as a Lactation Consultant. She also became a CPR Instructor and Yoga Teacher. She knew in her heart she had to achieve her final goal and is now enrolled in Nizhoni Institute of Holistic Midwifery where she is a full time apprenticing student midwife, hoping to be state licensed soon.

Striving to provide families in the United States with a superior birth experiences, she and her colleagues now want to help to those abroad; thus, Birth Without Borders was born. Their goal is to seek out opportunities that echo their life’s dream…grassroots humanitarianism that helps one mother and one baby at a time.

Lindsey’s mission is to bring her passion for helping mothers and babies not only to her own community, but also to different cultures and organizations around the world so many others can discover and truly understand that "Peace on Earth Begins at Birth".
